Latoya McCormick

Latoya is a lifelong resident of Pinellas County and a product of the Pinellas County School system. Latoya graduated in 1998 from Northeast High School.

Latoya McCormick graduated from Florida Southern College in the spring of 2003 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She started teaching in the fall at Kings Highway Elementary School. She graduated from the University of South Florida with a Master of Arts in music education in 2006.

Latoya is currently the choral director and musical theater teacher at Meadowlawn Middle School. Her Lancer chorus received 1st place in the middle school concert choir division and was named vocal grand champion at the music USA festival this year in Orlando. At the Florida Jr. Thespian Competition, 8 of the 9 entries received superior ratings and went on to the state level of competition.

When she is not teaching, you might find her at the theater performing, musical directing, or stage managing. She has won favorite supporting actress in a musical twice for the STAR Awards. She won for her role as Melba in 70 girls 70 and for her role as Mama in Chicago. She has been musical director for various productions in the area such as: My Way, Hairspray, Chicago, and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and 9 to 5. She is the current 1st Vice President of the St. Petersburg City Theater.

Mattioli School of Music is very proud of Latoya's accomplishments. She was a long time student of ours. She began taking piano lessons at 7 years old from Mrs. Mattioli.
